Job Description:

The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality (NMBMM) has an Export Helpdesk through which a Helpdesk Coordinator position has become available. The successful candidate will be responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of market entry initiatives conducted for Nelson Mandela Bay products entering the foreign markets through use of various marketing tools. They will also broaden awareness of and access to the current incentive programmes on offer by various stakeholders and the relevant application processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify export ready products and companies in Nelson Mandela Bay for promotion purposes
  • Identify, recruit, and develop new, emerging, and existing exporters who require development interventions
  • Generate quarterly reports
  • Collaborating with the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic), Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) and Provincial
  • Investment Promotion Agencies (PIPAs) in skills development
  • Market, promote and create awareness of the services of the Help Desk
  • Conduct market research to be in a position to advise exporters and other relevant stakeholders of trade\export opportunities
  • Broaden awareness of and access to the current incentive programmes on offer by various stakeholders and the relevant application processes
  • Identify trends in local and international markets and advise exporters (existing and potential) of trade related issues
  • Provision of information such as country profiles, company profiles, trade statistics, HS codes/CIS, tariff schedules, trade and export related service providers contacts
  • Lobby for stakeholder funding
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate market entry initiatives conducted for NMB products entering the foreign markets through use of various marketing tools
  • Identification of export related training needs and development of strategy to address development impediments particularly for SMMEs

Job Requirements:

  • Communication and Customer Relations skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of the export promotion and development field
  • Code 08 driver’s license
  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Commerce / Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business administration and management/
  • International Trade (NQF 7);
  • Experience in project evaluation and monitoring
  • Clear understanding of the Nelson Mandela Bay demographical area.
  • Two-year experience in small business development / SMME Support
  • Other key requirements include, among others:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in trade & investment promotion environment
