Job Description:

Oakley House High School is a happy and vibrant, independent, co-educational school in Diep River specialising in supporting individuals with specific learning difficulties. We invite applications for the position of School Secretary

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform the various front office functions, including front-line at emergencies and with student issues, and being available to the staff, parents and students to deal with queries
  • Manage first aid and daily medication regimens
  • Parent Evenings and students socials
  • Assist with staff welfare and management of the staffroom
  • Take minutes at staff meetings
  • Assist with the compiling and submission of reports/presentations and correspondence required by the Principal, such as to ISASA and WCED
  • Support the Heads of Department in their duties
  • Liaise with external service providers
  • Control administrative and uniform stock Produce and proof read documentation. Assist with the typing of assessments
  • Maintain student information and databases, including data capture and verification
  • Manage the diary of the Principal, and schedule meetings involving the Principal and Management
  • Manage new learner applications
  • Compile and distribute email communication. Manage emails and queries from parents and service providers
  • Assume responsibility for the planning and set up of various functions and events, such as

Job Requirements:

  • Have their own transport and the ability to work flexibly
  • Have strong administrational skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Have exceptional planning and organising skills
  • Have strong organising, planning, and reporting skills
  • Be energetic, innovative and self-motivated
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to relate with children, staff and parents, and a love of working with people
  • Have excellent computer literacy skills, especially Word and Excel. The ability to work with Staffroom and CEMIS would be an advantage
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a school or a similar environment
  • Have qualifications commensurate with the position
  • Have evidence of clearance with the Police, Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register
  • Have an excellent command of English (in both verbal and written communication)
  • Be able to work independently, under pressure and to multiple deadlines
  • Have impeccable integrity and confidentiality
