Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial advisory services to the above environments;
  • Reviewing and capturing journal requests;
  • Checking and approving various payment requests;
  • Monitoring overspent cost centres and addressing it with the relevant parties;
  • Compilation of financial statements and reports on an ongoing basis;
  • Handling and resolving inquiries (boarding, telephonic and electronic) in connection with financial policies and procedures;
  • Advance payment management;
  • Monitoring of cost points spent on and follow up with the parties involved;
  • Administering advance payments;
  • Offering formal and informal in-house workshops and programs to communicate financial policies and systems.
  • Liaising regarding and dealing with financial matters relating to (amongst others): faculties; institutes; house committees; the Student Council; student and departmental associations; as well as support environments;
  • Monitoring compliance with financial policies and procedures;
  • Providing financial advisory services to the above-mentioned environments;
  • Compiling financial statements and reports on a continuous basis;
  • Tracking and allocating transactions on checking accounts;

  • Proven experience and knowledge of Stellenbosch University’s, or a similar institution,’s financial systems.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Excel, Word and Outlook);
  • Degree in commerce with Financial Accounting as major, OR a financial diploma (NQF 6) with Financial Accounting as major and five years’ relevant experience;
  • Degree in Commerce with Financial Accounting as major, OR a financial diploma (NQF 6) with Financial Accounting as major and five years relevant experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Proven experience and knowledge of the financial systems of Stellenbosch University, or those of a similar institution.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills;
