The School of Clinical Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Gauteng department of Health, jointly invites suitably qualified fellow interested in being part of a dynamic, academic department, to apply for the following post. Job Responsibilities:

  • Afterhours and weekend Medical Oncology unit cover and ward rounds in rotation with other fellows and consultants in the unit
  • As a consultant, the candidate will be responsible for clinical management of general medical patients and sub specialist medicine responsibilities
  • GEMP medical student exams with marking written and clinical exams plus case reports.
  • Attending various combine multidisciplinary meetings (MDT) including the Histology/Heamatology meeting, GIT Malignancy MDT meeting , Lung MDT and Breast MDT meeting
  • Teaching GEMP students with bedside teaching weekly and teaching registrars and interns
  • Administration and accurate consenting with record keeping of oncology patient files and data.
  • Daily oncology clinic duties seeing 15-20 old and new medical oncology outpatients
  • Daily ward round in 594 with registrars, medical officers and interns
  • Attending senior consultant ward rounds on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays
  • Outreach Week of Edenvale Hospital ward rounds on 2 monthly basis
  • Responsible for attending to medical oncology inpatients
  • Supervising registrars in clinic and the ward

Qualification & Experience:

  • No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Oncology
  • Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialty in (Oncology)
  • Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Oncology
